An Explanation
Following-on from my 'Blue-on-Blue' and '100-Dots' projects and my exploratory 'Rectangles' project, I am now doing this '100-Rectangles Project'.
Beginning on 5th January 2013, my intention is to produce two rectangle images each week until I have produced 100.
Much of the thinking is the same as the 'Blue-on-Blue' project. I am not producing art but images that merely reflect my mood.
The colours are much the same - blue (RGB: 00007F) and blue (RGB: A3B5FF).
See an explanation of the original 'Blue-on-Blue' project using the colours to which I refer above at Blue-On-Blue-Too.
How this project is done
A die-within-a-die is rolled. The inner die gives the number of rectangles to be drawn on the light blue background. The outer (enveloping) die gives the number of rectangles to be drawn on the dark blue background. (This drawing is done using PowerPoint.) All rectangles must intersect with at least one other, therefore a throw where one or other die shows a one will be re-thrown. (Therefore, there can only be a maximum of 5* rectangles and a minimum of 2.) No viewing of previous images is allowed immediately prior to a new image being constructed.
* Originally I intended using a maximum of 6 rectangles - given that there were six faces on each die. However, I found this to produce images that were too cluttered for my liking and so I reverted to maximum of 5.
