Oil Change

Requirements

• Oil 5 litres. Manual states: Engine oil Viscosity as 10W30 or 15W40, CD or higher. We use Yanmar Brand diesel engine oil monograde SAE30/CC/CD or Penrite SAE30

• Oil Filter part no 119305-35150 or equivalent. We use part no 129150-35153 as supplied by our Yanmar dealer

• Oil wrench

• Funnel

• Paper towels

• Gloves

• Vacuum pump

Procedure

• Warm engine

• NB Remove/loosen oil filler cap (yellow) at the top of rocker arm cover

• Remove oil dipstick and insert the tube from the vacuum pump oil extractor

• We extract about 3.2-3.5 litres

• Place tray or similar under the oil filter and remove, keep towels handy for spillage

• Wipe the engine where oil filter attaches and lightly oil new filter at seal and screw into place. Tighten by hand, then turn an additional ¾ turn with the oil wrench.

• Replace oil. We added back a bit less than 4 litres

• Run engine and check for leaks

• Check oil level

• Run again for about 10 minutes and check again
