Impeller Change

Requirements:

• Threaded impeller Johnson 1027B-1 9 (thread M18x1.8) as provided by Yanmar dealer (Official Yanmar part no 129670-42531 Impeller with screw thread)

• Puller (bolt type)

• 17mm tube spanner for puller

• Cable tie for flange adjustment

• Silicon

• mallet

• detergent

• turps

• impeller oil (as supplied with impellor)

• paper towels

Procedure

1. Turn off engine water

2. To facilitate removal, add detergent to impellor. With salt water off, turn engine for few seconds

3. Remove water pump cover. Sinbad cover is fitted with Speed Seals http://www.speedseal.com/. Turns anti clockwise from aft

4. Insert puller and remove impeller noting which way the flanges are positioned

5. Scrape plate and clean with turps

6. Oil impeller

7. If necessary wrap cable tie around impellor aligning flanges and to reduce circumference of impeller.

8. Insert impeller into pump housing (this is a fiddle). Tap lightly with mallet if needed.

9. lightly silicon 0 ring on impeller plate keeping silicon to outside edge only

10. Attach plate

11. Turn on engine water and run engine briefly

12. check water pumping and for leaks

Note: Johnson Impeller 09-1027B-1 has no thread
