Understanding HOA Dissolution: What It Takes and Where We Stand
The Sierra View Association Board of Directors recognizes that some members of our community have expressed interest in dissolving the HOA.
We believe in transparency and informed decision-making, and we are committed to sharing the facts so that every member can understand what dissolution entails.
At the same time, the Board is actively working to correct past mistakes and improve the management of our association.
Earlier this year, many doubted the pool would open—yet through determination and planning, it did.
We’ve hired an independent management company to ensure more professional oversight and accountability.
We are also gathering plans and drawings to address long-standing issues with the clubhouse ramp, stairs, and basement.
These steps reflect our commitment to restoring trust and functionality within the HOA. We understand that rebuilding takes time, and we appreciate the patience and engagement of our members.
Recently, a member submitted a petition requesting a special meeting to discuss the dissolution of the HOA.
The petition included 113 signatures; however, after verification, only 74 signatures were accepted. As a result, the petition did not meet the required threshold to move forward.
For those who still wish to pursue dissolution, please review the following facts:
( for more detail information click here)
• Legal Requirements: Dissolving an HOA typically requires a super-majority vote of the membership, as outlined in our governing documents and Pennsylvania state law.
• Property Implications: Without an HOA, shared amenities like the pool, clubhouse, and common areas may fall into disrepair or require alternative funding and management.
• Financial Considerations: Outstanding debts, contracts, and obligations must be resolved before dissolution can proceed.
• Community Impact: The absence of an HOA may affect property values, neighborhood standards, and the ability to coordinate community-wide initiatives.
