PTC's impact

Thank you for supporting your child's education and The Sherman Oaks PTC

Thanks to your ongoing support for our fundraisers and volunteer opportunities, the PTC has helped to bring many fun events and programs to our students at Sherman Oaks. Check them out below:

Las Posadas

We were able to provide 35 families with food, toys and gift cards to help them out this Holiday Season. The PTC would like to thank Maestro Gutierrez and his 7th Grade Class for their festive Holiday concert, Foodmaxx, Target and ACTS360 for their contributions and most importantly:  THANK YOU TO THE SHERMAN OAKS COMMUNITY!!

Dia De Los Muertos

To celebrate the traditional hispanic 'Day of the Dead', the PTC put up an Altar in the main office so students could share and remember their loved ones who have passed. The PTC also brought Aztec Dancers to perform a traditional dance and served pan dulce and hot chocolate to students to commemorate the holiday.

STEM Projects with RAFT

The PTC teamed up with teachers and staff and RAFT to bring hands on STEAM activities to your child's classroom. RAFT (Resource Area for Teaching) is a nonprofit school supply store in San Jose that offers teachers low cost supplies, free resources, workshops and STEAM project kits. Students in grades TK-3 were able to participate in a STEAM project brought to their classroom by the RAFT Maker Mobile and taught by a RAFT representative.  The PTC and Sherman Oaks are planning to provide more opportunities for RAFT to bring STEAM projects to more Sherman Oaks students to experience.

Lunar New Year Celebration

The PTC brought Sun's Kung Fu to perform a Lion Dance and Kung Fu demonstration to celebrate the Lunar New Year and share a little bit about the Asian culture with the Sherman Oaks students. The students really enjoyed the performance! Having these fun events during the year, really gets the kids excited to come to school and be a part of the Aguila community!

Playground Balls for Every Classroom

Some of you may have heard from your kids about the shortage of balls available to play with at recess and lunch. The school provides a limited number of playground balls that end up getting lost, or kicked over the school ground walls, never to return again. The lack of balls can even cause problems between kids who struggle to share. The PTC was able to buy 4 balls for every classroom to help alleviate the problem. Encourage your kids to take care of these balls so that they can continue to have fun with them for the rest of the school year.
