Fleadh Events
FRIDAY APRIL 10th
The Carlow Fleadh Cheoil is a festival of Irish traditional Music centered around the competitions in music and song.
This year's festival will return to the picturesque village on Leighlinbridge on the river barrow next weekend 27-29th May.
The Friday night will open with a CD launch by local flute player and music teacher, Ciarán Somers from Muine Bheag.
This recording features the sound of the wooden flute in several keys and includes Irish traditional and music from Brittany in the North West of France. Ciarán will be accompanied on the night by Donál Clancy (Son of Liam Clancy) on guitar and vocals.
The album launch will take place in the Waterfront venue in the Lord Bagenal Inn at 9pm. This will be followed by a rousing set from re-formed local group, 'The Borris Carloff's' with Dave and Michelle Sheridan on fiddles, Larry Egan on accordion, Eric Butler on guitar and vocals and Ciaran Somers on flutes and pipes. It promises to be a great night's entertainment, admission is free.
