Carlow Fleadh 2015

Carlow town       9 - 12 April 2015

The annual Carlow Fleadh returns to Carlow town on the 9-12th April 2015. Plans are underway to stage one of the most ambitious fleadhs of recent years, building on successful events from last year and introducing some new elements. The Fleadh consistently brings an influx of music lovers and performers to this beautiful county, straddling the majestic Barrow.
We will hold our music and singing competitions on Saturday, April 11th and appeal to anyone out there, regardless of age or standard, to come along and join in the fun. Primary school competitions will be held from 10.30am-12.30pm and cater for all traditional Irish instrument players and singers. There will be further competitions in the afternoon to select musicians and singers to represent Carlow in the Leinster Fleadh held during the summer.
Primary School Competitions

We will hold our Primary School Competitions from 10.30am-12.30pm in Scoil Muire Gan Smál on Saturday, April 11th 2015

These events are broken into 4 categories – string, wind, reed and singing. There are just two age sections –
                 (a) Up to and including 3rd class and
                 (b) 4th class upwards.

Each competitor should play or sing one piece, preferably Irish in nature. The song can be in Irish or English.
These competitions are open to all primary school children, with emphasis on participation and fun rather than winning!

Entry for each competition is €2 and can be taken on the day.
Entries are not confined to Carlow county residents only, as winners do not proceed to Leinster Fleadh.

The more, the merrier!!
