Carlow Fleadh 2016

Leighlinbridge    May 27-29

The annual Carlow Fleadh returns to Leighlinbridge on 27-29th May 2016. Plans are underway to stage one of the most ambitious fleadhs of recent years, building on successful events from last year and introducing some new elements. The Fleadh consistently brings an influx of music lovers and performers to this beautiful county, straddling the majestic Barrow.
We will hold our music and singing competitions on Saturday, May 28th and appeal to anyone out there, regardless of age or standard, to come along and join in the fun. Primary school competitions will be held from 10.30am-12.30pm and cater for all traditional Irish instrument players and singers. There will be further competitions in the afternoon to select musicians and singers to represent Carlow in the Leinster Fleadh held during the summer.
Primary School Competitions
We will hold our Primary School Competitions from 10.30am-12.30pm in Leighlinbridge Primary School on Saturday, May 28th  2016
These events are broken into 4 categories – string, wind, reed and singing. There are just two age sections –
                 (a) Up to and including 3rd class and
                 (b) 4th class upwards.
Each competitor should play or sing one piece, preferably Irish in nature. The song can be in Irish or English.
These competitions are open to all primary school children, with emphasis on participation and fun rather than winning!
Entry for each competition is €2 and can be taken on the day.
Entries are not confined to Carlow county residents only, as winners do not proceed to Leinster Fleadh.
The more, the merrier!!
