Collaborative research involving multiple disciplines is pervasive in frontier STEM fields. This trend mandates science education to prepare students to develop an interdisciplinary habit of mind. The Next Generation Science Standards supports this philosophy by emphasizing core scientific and engineering practices and crosscutting concepts that transcend disciplinary boundaries. In this project, you will collaborate with your classmate(s) to develop a lesson integrating science and another school discipline at the appropriate level. Check out the course syllabus for the specific instruction for the final project.
Proposal (week 1): Find a team to work in; Brainstorm your ideas and recall the IRC framework reviewed in class; Upload your integrated lesson plan proposal (1-pg) on Blackboard->Discussion Board.
Peer Evaluation (week 2): Pick two lesson plan proposals and provide substantive feedback. Help the lesson better integrates science with other disciplinary topics by attending to the IRC framework.
Refinement (week 3): Refine your integrated lesson based on your peers feedback; prepare for your lesson presentation.
Presentation (TBD): Present your integrated lesson to the class.
Final report (TBD): Write up your integrated lesson.
