The three goals that I would like to accomplish by the end of this course in relationship to the National Education Technology Standards and the Technology Integration Matrix include the following. Learn to effectively use digital tools and resources. Plan and design effective learning environments and experiences. Teach the curriculum by modeling digital age lessons. In terms of the Technology Integration Matrix, I am currently integrating technology in the classroom at the entry–adoption level. My lessons are currently teacher driven and I would like to move towards my lessons becoming more student driven.
My goal is to shift from less procedural instruction to more conceptual instruction to promote higher level thinking skills. I would like for my students to be able to use technology tools independently to facilitate construction of meaning. My class is in a major shift today in the teaching and learning paradigm. This professional development opportunity will prepare and help me develop/design digital age lessons that will empower and inspire my students to explore, create and compose and express themselves through personalized learning experiences.

In order to meet my goals listed above, I will need to continue being a self-disciplined, independent learner who is willing to explore new tools. I will reach out to my peers in this class and I also have support from members in my family who can help me to become better prepared to take on the challenges of the twenty first century classroom. Even though I am a digital immigrant, I am prepared to surround myself with digital natives who can assist me in weaving technology into the curriculum so that the tools match the desired learning outcomes. This is going to be a challenging and arduous process to move from my current entry level of technology integration in my classroom to a teacher who facilitates higher order thinking skills through providing opportunities for the innovative use of technology tools that support connections to the lives of the students and the global technology world beyond.
