SCHUYLER HILL CIVIC ASSOCIATION - BEACH AND CLUBHOUSE RULES
(It is mandatory that members abide by the rules listed below)
Only one member of a family needs to sign in each day, when visiting the beach. Members are responsible for the registration and behavior of their guests. Guests will only be admitted to the beach if the member is present. A guest is anyone other than an immediate
member of your household.
HOURS OF OPERATION FOR 2025
WEATHER PERMITTING AND ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE
Weekends starting May 24th (including Memorial Day) through June 15th- Noon to 6pm
Summer Hours - June 16th- September 1st. Mon. to Thurs.- Noon to 6pm,
Fri. to Sun. - Noon to 8pm
Day Manager on duty – Mon. to Thurs.- Noon to 6pm, Fri. to Sun. - Noon to 8pm
Lifeguard on duty – Mon. to Thurs. - Noon to 5:45pm, Fri. to Sun. - Noon to 7:45pm
The summer staff, composed of American Red Cross Certified Lifeguards and Day Managers, represent our club and are there for the safety of the members. These people are to be listened to and treated with respect. If some matter is not resolved to your satisfaction after contacting the Day Manager, then please bring it to the attention of any Officer or Board Member.
The Lifeguards and Day Managers must be obeyed and not interfered with or you risk being expelled from the beach. The Lifeguards are not babysitters and have been instructed to remove children up to 7 years old from the water, if not accompanied by an adult.
There is to be no swimming when the lifeguard is not on duty. No one is allowed on the beach after 9pm.
If a members wants to use the community barbeque, they are to see the Day Manager. A Security deposit of $20.00 is required and will be returned after usage.
AGE REQUIREMENT FOR CHILDREN ATTENDING BEACH
Children under the age of 11 may only attend the beach if accompanied by a Parent or Guardian (16 years and older), who must remain at the beach with the Child and is responsible for their safety and behavior.
MEMBER INFORMATION FORM
Grandchildren under the age of 12 years old (for who you babysit for on a regular basis), because their parents are working, are eligible to be listed on the membership form with you and are classified as your family members during the summer months. However, grandchildren visiting occasionally are required to pay the beach guest fees.
GARBAGE/RECYCLING - New York City law requires that we recycle:
Please place items made from METAL, PLASTIC & GLASS in the Blue containers and PAPER (newspapers, pizza boxes, etc.) in the large Green labeled paper recycling containers located near front end of patio. Brown containers for Composting
MEMBERS AND THEIR GUESTS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR:
§ Monitoring the behavior and safety of their children including accompanying young children to the restrooms.
§ Cleaning the beach table/area and closing the beach umbrella before leaving the beach.
§ Cleaning the community barbecue grills if you use them.
§ Replacing club property that they willfully damage.
MEMBERS AND THEIR GUESTS MAY NOT:
§ Feed the wildlife.
§ Throw balls, Frisbees, sand, water, fly kites etc., on SHCA property.
§ Save a picnic table for the next day or leave chairs on the beach, they need to be put in their lockers or taken home.
§ Remove indoor tables & chairs or patio furniture for use on the patio or beach.
§ Use profanity, loud radios or make excessive noise.
§ Use barbecue grills on picnic tables.
§ Bring dogs on SHCA property.
§ Fish on any part of our beach waterfront.
§ Ride bicycles, scooters or skateboards or use rollerblades on SHCA property.
§ Shoot off fireworks on SHCA property.
PARKING
Members that live within walking distance of the club are asked to leave their cars at home, in order to leave more parking for members that must drive.
To make the best use of the club parking area, members are requested to park in between the lines. Additional parking can be found on Pennyfield Avenue. Members are requested to avoid blocking anyone in when parking and not to park on the concrete entrance walk-way in front of the club.
Members are asked to not park by the Restaurant or the Plumbing business next door, unless given permission.
The cooperation of the members when parking will be most appreciated, in order to facilitate police, fire, and emergency protection.
INAPPROPRIATE CONDUCT BY MEMBER OR GUEST
Members have the right and duty to expel anyone from the beach, whom they consider to be abusing the premises and or its occupants. (If necessary, call upon the Day Manager or Lifeguard for assistance.) Serious infractions of the rules can result in the loss of beach privileges and the possible expulsion from the association.
