Enter this Website if and only if you know Shajib @ SUST! Otherwise, it's waste of your data plan if you value it!

This website summerizes my activities during my time as a faculty at SUST until August 2016. I am done with my PhD in the Computer Science Department at Stony Brook University (SUNYSB). My research interest includes Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing, Bioinformatics, and Distributed & Parallel Computing. I use different Machine Learning techniques to solve various problems of NLP and Bioinformatics. To meet the computational need of drug molecular docking problem, I led a research team to create the cluster computer based docking procedure MPI-Vina for our cluster computer SUST CLUST. I supervised more than 30 undergrad thesis students and created Pipilika (A Small Scale Search Engine for Bengali Text), Mongol Dip (Bilingual Screen Reading Software), Subachan (Bengali Text to Speech Software), and MPI-Vina. In May, 2012, I went to Poland to participate in the ACM World Finals 2012 with our team SUST Palindrome. In October, 2012, I received a special award for my work on Mongol Dip (A Bilingual Screen Reading Software for Visually Impaired People) from the Honorable Prime Minister of the Govt. of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh for my excellent effort and contribution to create a system for the inclusion of visually impaired people in the mainstream economy of Bangladesh using ICT and taking Bangladesh forward. I received my B.Sc (Engg) degree in Computer Science and Engineering from the Dept. of CSE, Shahjalal University of Science & Technology (SUST), Bangladesh with distinction and record CGPA 3.96 (out of 4.0) in the history of CSE Dept, and second highest in the history of SUST in May, 2007.

The First Ever Bengali Search Engine 'Pipilika' will be Launched on 13th April, 2013:

I am delighted to announce that www.pipilika.com will be live for all of you guys on 13th April, 2013. As a Team Leader of this project I will introduce this search engine to you in a gala event to be held on 13th April. It is our gift from Shahjalal University to the Bengali Nation for the upcoming Bengali New Year - 1420 (14th April, 2013). Right now we have opened the site for your review and valuable comments. So your kind help and patience during this phase of beta testing will be appreciated. We are constantly updating it's features and functions. The architecture of the engine is very complex and we have mounted the engine on Amazon EC2 to provide you a pleasant service. We will update our indexer with millions of pages as we grow bigger with your demands. Right now 11 developers are working on this engine. Here are these heroes: Mishu, Talha, Talha Ibne Imam, Touhid, Sazzad, Asif, Baker, Opu, Forhad, Asish and Maksud. The client UI (in part) is taken from the original thesis project of Burhan and Chisty. The name "Pipilika (Ant in Bengali)" was referred by Burhan/Chisty and Logo was designed by Burhan. This search engine is built on the thesis projects of more than 30 thesis students. We will enlist their names as the search engine creators with proper reference in our documentation. Kudos to all of you guys!!!

Synopsis of Cloudsuccess story | NU Admission Result:

Shahjalal University of Science and Technology successfully used the cloud computing infrastructure for hosting National University Admission (2011-12) website for more than four million eligible students. The admission website was hosted on a highly optimized computer cluster for serving web content to the students. The database was hosted on the 8 Linux cloud server in a distributed manner with fault tolerance.  On the admission result publication day, we took the service to a new standard by creating a system that can serve more than 100,000 users concurrently without any interruptions. To achieve such a high performance, memory based caching technology was used on top of mysql database. Nginx was deployed as web server to each server and a dynamic request distribution policy was used algorithmically. Using all these features together along with the security, backup and scaling facilities of cloud computing platform we could develop a highly specialized, optimized and secured website for the students. For the first time in Bangladesh, viewing the result on the web for such massive number of students was a joyful experience. Read more here: http://www.sachalayatan.com/sumon_sust/50708.
