¿Quienes Somos? - Who are we?
Las Becas Servus fueron fundadas en el año 2006 por dos exalumnos de Ingeniería Agrícola de la Universidad Nacional de Colombia sede Bogotá. La pregunta principal era como poder ayudar a Colombia mientras ellos hacian sus maestrias en el exterior. Debido a que los alumnos llevan a la Universidad Nacional y el Departamento de Ingeniería Agrícola en el corazón, decidieron crear becas para estudiantes que estuviesen en situaciones económicas muy frágiles.
La idea principal es evitar que algunos alumnos tengan que dejar los estudios por falta de dinero. Muchas veces dejan la universidad faltando algunas semanas para terminar semestre; esto debido a falta de dinero para pagar por cosas básicas.
En el 2o semestre de 2006 se colocaron las primeras convocatorias y los primeros becados recibieron el dinero en el primer semestre de 2007.
Hoy en día somos un grupo de donantes que desde diferentes partes del mundo estamos comprometidos con los becarios de Servus.
The Servus Scholarhip was founded in 2006 by two Agricultural Engineering Alumni from the National University of Colombia in Bogota. The main question was how to help their country while they were both doing their master studies abroad. Due to the deepest appreciation they had to the University and the department, they decided to create the scholarships for students in financial need.
The main idea is to prevent students from dropping out due to lack of money. Many times students drop out only a few weeks before the semester's end due to lack of money for transportation, for example.
During the second semester of 2006 the first announcements were made and the first scholarships were given in the first semester of 2007.
Nowadays we are a group of donors located in various areas in the world who are committed to the students who belong to Servus.
Misión - Mission
Brindar un apoyo íntegro - económico y motivacional - principalmente a estudiantes de Ingeniería Agrícola, Fisioterapia y carreras relacionadas con el medio ambiente (además de otras) que estén teniendo dificultades financieras para continuar con sus estudios.
Our mission is to help Agricultural Engineering students as well as Physiotherapy and carreers related to the environment (and some other carreers) who are thinking about abandoning the university due to financial hardship. We also provide advice for both, personal and professional growth.
Visión - Vision
Para el año 2020, contar con becarios provenientes de todas las universidades públicas en Colombia donde se ofrezca el programa de Ingeniería Agrícola. Si es posible, quisiéramos extendernos a otras carreras también, especialmente carreras agrícolas y de salud. ¡VISIÓN ALCANZADA!
Our vision is to offer scholarships by 2020 at all public universities in Colombia where the Agricultural Engineering degree is offered. If possible we would expand to other careers as well, specially agricultural careers and health related.

This word originates from the Latin word for servant, servus. The phrase is an ellipsis of a Latin expression servus humillimus, Domine spectabilis, meaning your humble servant, my noble Lord. No subservience is implied in its modern use. meaning, "I am your servant" or "at your service". Servus is the origin of the word. It is also a way to say hello in the Bavarian area of Germany.
