Contest Announcement
Pavia Council K of C to Sponsor Youth Essay Contest
All Catholic students in public, private and parochial schools grades 8,9,10,11 and 12 are invited to participate in the 2014 Knights of Columbus Essay Contest. Students are encouraged to write a 500 to 750 word essay on the theme of:
"The Importance of Religious Freedom."
Essays are due in by March 7, 2014 to be considered in the Pavia Council (Bethel, CT) K of C contest. Winning essays will be entered into the K of C Connecticut contest with that winner moving onto the International Contest. Prizes will be awarded to the winners at each level. Guidelines:
Essays must reflect the assigned theme and be the student’s original work.
Essays must be typed and be between 500 and 750 words in length.
The student’s name should appear only on the official Knights of Columbus Essay
Contest entry form, www.kofc.org/un/en/resources/service/youth/essay/entry_form.pdf
which must be emailed with or stapled to the essay. The Entry form requires parental/guardian consent.
All entries become the property of the Knights of Columbus and will not be returned.
Essays and entry form (pdf format) may be emailed to willvee@sbcglobal.net or printed copies may be dropped off at the St. Mary Church (Bethel,CT) Rectory at 26 Dodgingtown Rd (attn: Knights of Columbus)
Winning essays will be picked in 2 divisions: Division 1 is 8th and 9th Grade students and division 2 is 10th, 11th, and 12th grade students, with cash prizes awarded for 1st and 2nd place in each of those divisions.
