The photo above is one of my favorites. It shows the ultimate reward for a successful mission. Lives saved. The paratroopers are not identified in this National Archive photo, nor are the civilian family.
In Flanagan's book "The Angels" a similar photo appears that identifies Clp. Henry Kusmierczyk (L) and S/Sgt. Charles Egbert (R) C-511th PIR chatting with Hal Bowie, holding his baby Lea and his wife Paquita, from Spain.
