About Us

Founded in 2012, the St. David's Foundation Community Garden is located in MLK Station Neighborhood Park, in Austin, TX.

Tucked away behind the Capital Metro Rail stop at MLK Jr. Blvd and Alexander Ave, right by the hike and bike trail in the MLK Station Neighborhood Park, the SDF Garden is a space where diverse neighbors work together to produce organic and healthy food.

About the SDF Garden

The area was formerly a storage and mixing site for the Featherlite Brick factory. Because of this, the base soil at the garden is cinder (glazed clay granules).

There are currently 33 plots: 2 communal plots, 3 butterfly gardens, and 28 personal plots. Future plans include doubling the number of plots and adding a fruit orchard.

In addition to the SDF garden, the nearby Sustainable Food Center also operates a large teaching garden, oversees an apiary with 60,000 honey bees, and manages a chicken cooperative.
