Sciencescope, the French Students and Researchers Organization in Japan, the French Embassy in Japan and the French Institute for Research on Japan (MFJ, UMIFRE 19, MEAE-CNRS) organize the French Research Day (J·FR) in Japan (J·FR 2018).

J·FR 2018 will take place on Wednesday, December 12th, 2018 at the Maison Franco-Japonaise (Ebisu, Tokyo).

J·FR 2018 is open to everyone, with the participation of the CNRS Tokyo office (North Asia), the CCIFJ, and the alumni organizations of French Government Scholarships ABC and ABSCIF. The J·FR 2018 program will consist of several research presentations, posters and a panel for celebrating the 15 years of the French-Japanese program PHC SAKURA, and will be followed by a reception.

Since 1997, JFR is gathering yearly the community of students and researchers in Japan from all disciplines and citizenships. This event intends to promote research discussions among researchers, students, engineers, officials, company representatives or any interested person and to present their activities in Japan.

You are kindly invited to submit your research work or to register as an attendee to participate to JFR 2018. Furthermore, if you or your coworkers have been involved into the PHC SAKURA program, feel free to contact us to participate to the panel.

The registration is free and open to all, but it is mandatory and can be made online through the JFR 2018 Registrations form until Thursday, November 1st, 2018 (presenters) or Monday, December 03rd, 2018 (attendees).

Objectives

The main objectives of J·FR 2018 are to create a social event about Research in any fields (Sciences, Applied Sciences, SHS, etc) and Technologies, and to enforce discussions among the audience.

This is an opportunity for all actors in research and development in Japan (companies, researchers, students, institutional, etc.), to meet community of French-speaking scientist in order to initiate discussions, future projects or collaborations.

Call for Contributions

J·FR 2018 proposes three main kinds of contributions:

(1) presentation (about 20min of talk including questions);

(2) poster (A0 size, portrait);

(3) flash-talk (short presentation, 5min)

When submitting a contribution, it is possible to choose a type of contributions (presentation, poster or flash-talk).

The Organizing Committee will therefore select the contributions to be presented as presentations or posters according to research topics. J·FR 2018 could also propose flash talks for some presentation proposals, depending on topics and progress of work (preliminary research work, etc.). An initial choice could therefore be changed from a presentation to a poster or flash-talk, but not the opposite.

The main language at J·FR 2018 is French. However, for non-native speakers, text contributions (e.g.: summary, resume, posters or slides) can be written either in French or in English. Upon requests, presenters that are not fluent in French but interested by this event can also present their work in english.
