1786 Peter Christian Schneider, son of William and Carolina Contine, is born, perhaps in Lachine. [HSAPV 1-6]
1790 John Hugh Lieure Schneider, son of William and Carolina Contine, is born, perhaps in Lachine. [HSAPV 1-6]
1792 Francis Schroder builds the stone house in Vaudreuil and operates it as an Inn. The inn will be acquired by William Schneider. [HHOC] The building may have served as a trading post for the North West Company, and the Chipman house may have served as a post for the Hudson Bay Company. [HSAPV 2-2]
1795 John Mark Crank DeLesDerniers was living in Ste-Anne-de-Bellevue. He was a trader and at the time he was a “crown agent in charge of the Two Mountains Mission (Oka)”. [GCLH –Part 2] Independent traders had been active in the area west of Montreal for years.
1799 A William Schneider and a John Schneider apply for land grants [LAC – LCLP]
1802 Charles Schneider, “tavern keeper of Lachine” marries Marie Josette Kingsbury. Witnesses were Messrs. Stemm and Marsteller. [HSAPV 1-7]
1802 Ste-Madeleine de Rigaud parish is founded [HHS – Timeline]
1803 Charles’s first son, John Frederick, is born in Lachine [Census of 1852 - Others]. Baptised at Christ Church, Montreal. [HSAPV 1-7]

1804 Charles’s second son, John Julius, is born. Baptised at Christ Church, Montreal. [HSAPV 1-7]
1804 William Schneider acquires the Inn from Francis Schroder [HHOC] [HHOC – Schneider Hotel]. Rev. Royle will call this the Spence House [HSAPV 1-7]. William also acquired Lots # 17 and #19 [RCD – William]
1804 Family tradition states that “Mr. and Mrs. Schneider came to Como with two sons.” [HSAPV 1-7]. This probably refers to Charles Schneider and Marie Josette Kingsbury.
1805 Rev’d Richard Bradford secures a register and takes up residence in Chatham, Quebec. [HSAPV 1-8]
1805 Sometime before 1805 John Mark Crank DeLesDerniers acquired Lot 15 in Vaudreuil and moved there, “the location being more convenient for his trade with the Indians at Oka”. [GCLH –Part 2]
1807 Francois Schroder dies after falling from a carriage. His burial is recorded in the registers of Ste-Madeleine-de-Rigaud parish. The register records his occupation as an innkeeper. [RQH 2005-03/1111502338]
1808 Charles’s third child, Thomas Henry, is born. [HSAPV 1-7]
1809 Charles William is born, son of Charles Schneider and Marie Josette Kingsbury. [HSAPV 1-7]
1809 A John Schneider marries Oriel Kellog of the Parish of Argenteuil [HSAPV 1-6]. Not sure who this John Schneider is, or how he fits into the family.
1809 Rev’d Bradford turns in last register and leaves the area. [HSAPV 1-8]
1810 William Schneider is sponsor at baptism of Dorothy, daughter of Drusilla DeLesDerniers and John Schneider. [HSAPV 1-6]
1811 Rev’d Bradford returns and starts a new register. [HSAPV 1-8] The registers cover the period to 1816. [HSAPV 1-9]

1817 Ross Cox stops for a night at the Schneider Hotel. He will write about it in his book, Adventures on The Columbia River. [ACR pg. 303-304]

1819 Ellen Whitlock, 69 and Catherine Thomas, 19 buried at Vaudrueil, hinting that the area that would become the cemetery was in use before its purchase by Whitlock and Schneider. [HSAPV2-3]

1837 March 25. An Aurora Borealis so spectacular that the fire engines in New York are called out. Bishop Mountain makes note of it in his journal. [HSAPV 3-7] He was on his way to Vaudreuil to perform the first Confirmations to be held in the area.
1837 Political turmoil and revolution. [HHS – Timeline] Charles Schneider is a Captain in The Loyal Vaudreuil Volunteers. [RCD – Charles] The battle of Ste. Eustache was fought in December.
1837 Charles Schneider gives a deposition about the identity of John Gripe. [RBC – Schneider]
1837 Charles Schneider buys a farm that he gives to his daughter Hannah and her husband Captain Robins as a wedding present. Hannah and Captain Robins will call their home Sydenham Cottage. They will give a piece of this property to the Anglican parish as the site of St. James Anglican Church. [RCD – Charles] [HHOC]
1838 Our ancestor John Edmund Schneider is born.
1840 May 20. Bishop Mountain returns to Vaudreuil to perform Confirmations. He notes that the people are discussing the building of a church. [HSAPV 3-10]
1841 Rev. James Pyke appointed to the newly formed Parish of Vaudreuil. [APV - History]

1847 Typhoid epidemic hits Vaudreuil and area.

1848 The Hudson’s Bay Company closes the post at Oka.

1853 J. M. Schneider sells “Davidson House” to Thomas Davidson. [HHOC] This was the house John Schneider had acquired when he moved to Vaudreuil.
