Miss Black & Old Gold Scholarship Competition

During the August 6, 2018, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. Board of Directors meeting, the Fraternity became a leader in addressing concerns around gender-based harassment by voting to make major changes and enhancements to the Miss Black & Gold Pageant. These changes are focused on creating a safer and more inclusive and engaging environment for participants; while also upholding a well-respected Fraternity tradition. One of the changes to the event is the official name has been changed to the Miss Black & Old Gold Scholarship Competition.

The Miss Black and Old Gold Scholarship Competition is an event whose primary purpose is to highlight and foster the inextricable connection between success and etiquette among young women. This competition spotlights the young women's poise, self-confidence, communication skills, intelligence, and beauty. In all, the Miss Black and Old Gold Scholarship Competition encompasses true womanhood, success, and confidence. Academic excellence and scholarship are greatly stressed in the competition with the Fraternity providing the contestants with scholarships to assist with the financial obligations associated with post-secondary studies.

The Annual Miss Black and Old Gold Scholarship Competition will be held Saturday, October 12, 2019, at the Hilton Greenville. Important deadlines are listed below:

Registration Fee

Please submit your registration fee of $25.00 to the District Treasurer by September 13. Below you will find all the information needed for your chapter to participate in the Miss Black and Old Gold Scholarship Competition. Be sure that you and your contestant completely read and comprehend the documents attached. Please return all requested information by September 13, 2019 via postal mail to: Ms. Geneva Smalls, 48 Hickory Hill Road, St. Helena Island, South Carolina 29920. Do not mail any information after the September 13th deadline.
