Subject: Village Shop Update - We crossed the first milestone congratulations - onwards :)

I am delighted to let you know that we have crossed the first milestone of raising over £140,000 to secure the purchase of the village shop.
I have verbally advised the current owners, who are delighted that we have been able to raise the funds needed. I will put this offer in writing shortly.
Thank you so much to everyone who has pledged funds. What a fantastic response in a short space of time. I have been inspired by the support and ideas from far and wide. We now have over 50 families investing in the future of our village shop.
We will continue with the fund raising activities and broaden them out to ensure we reach our larger target to provide funds for the purchase of stock and some working capital, but i do not see this as being a problem.
I will be instructing a local solicitor to act on our behalf, ideally on a pro-bono basis, to hold the funds in escrow for us during the purchase process and whilst we form the Community Interest Company.
I cannot thank you enough for the support, financial, offers of volunteers, encouragement and general passing of the message through the village grapevines and personal networks. Please continue with the communications. We plan a leaflet drop so we can attract support from those not on email in the near future and other fund raising activities.
I am away on business for the next two days with limited access to email and phone, so please be patient with me if I do not respond as quickly as you may expect.
Regards
David
