Much has progress has been made in the campaign to purchase of the village shop., reviews of contracts for sale, completion of the survey of the building, discussions with post office and suppliers and critically collection of pledged funds.
I gave a progress update at the Sarratt Forum and was truly motivated by the level of interest and support. You can see the presentation I gave on the campaign website by clicking on this link http://www.sarrattvillage.org/campaign-launch-email/sarratt-forum-update
We have so far collected in £123,000 of the £160,000 pledged so far. We have investment so far from 63 families, which is fantastic. Many of the outstanding pledged funds are on their way to the solicitors for which I thank those who have contacted me to say this.
I still hope we can get as many of the 800 households in the community involved as possible. We are still seeking investments anything from £25 for a single share all the upto what ever amount people feel the can afford and commit. So if you have not invested yet please feel free to do so now.
Over the coming months we will complete planning for running the business appointing a management board, issuing shares to investors and completing the handover of the business. Key dates coming up are
October
Finalisation of Post office business plan - This is a lengthy and complicated document!!!
Distribution of shareholder agreement for review and comment
Founder shareholders meeting - in the village hall - Election of directors, agree formal shareholder agreement and issue share certificates. Likely to be 3rd of 4th week of October. I will be sending out a note about how people seek nomination as director in due course.
Creation of operational plan - We are actively looking for volunteers to work on a rota in the shop and to assist in administration and book keeping.
Open bank account - We are looking for a free banking service that also allows us to manage approvals and financial controls on-line with the appropriate governance.
November
Sale completion and transition over to Sarratt Village Community Interest Company
We hope this will all be completed by November and we will see our first Christmas in with our very own community shop.
I am also pleased to confirm that Grainger after much reflection has decided to stay with us for the foreseeable future. He will be having a break and some weekends off plus holidays but he is going to be a part of the team going forward along with Jane and Vanessa. I see this as our core team around which we can provide volunteers and supporters to help with the development and administration of the business
Thanks for your continuned support, please contact me if you have any questions or can invest time or money in this critical endeavour.
Regards
David
