This structure is supposed to be the tomb of noblemen who ruled over Gujarat immediately preceding the conquest of Akhbar ... Two similar structures on both sides of the pathway ... It is believed that this space was traditional graveyard of the Habshis. "Habshi" was the name given to people of African descent. Many of them had been brought as slaves by the earlier sultans of Gujarat Dynasty. They slowly rose to power in the court because of their loyalty and skills in the battlefield.

... after the death of Bahadur Shah, the last reigning King of Sultanate dynasty in 1536 AD, the powerful nobles divided the kingdom of Gujarat amongst themselves, for its preservation and to avoid infighting. The powerful courtiers commanded the respect of the army and were very able generals themselves. The noblemen, mainly Abyssinians — also known as Sidis — ruled over Gujarat using a federal system of governance. Each nobleman maintained his own army. Territories were clearly defined — where revenues were to be collected from, and where development work was to be done ... Sarkhej Roza is the place where most of these noblemen have been buried.
