A Social Networking Application
(July, 2009 - May 2010)
Backend Engineer
Rrripple is an incredible new way of sharing rich media with your family, friends and peers with ease and fun. It's like facebook on steroids with beautiful media wall, managed access to your groups and files and intuitive UI.
This application has LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP) architecture. I worked on various parts of application, including implementing application programming interfaces (API's) to enable integration of 3rd party services. These API's produce XML used to generate flash based front-end. I was also involved in defining and implementing content management system to store content uploaded by user. Thumbnails with different resolution were generated to support different browser resolution and iphone layout. I was also responsible for defining and maintaining detailed functional specifications on a wiki. Use of SVN, Trac, Wiki, and other tools was required.
This job required collaborating with geographically distributed development team in a fast-paced, start-up environment. The entire team is required to meet once a month. We use Skype and Acrobat Connect for communication.
