Learning to give back to the community is a key part of the Cub Scout program. Our Cub Scouts participate in at least two service projects per year:
Scouting for Food is one of many service projects the BSA has conducted since 1910. The plan is simple:
1. Pick up door hangers in November.
2. Distribute door hangers to specified areas in your neighborhoods
3. Pick up the food left outside of the homes the following Saturday and deliver it to a local food bank or pantry.
It is a very tangible way for Cubs to help their local community.
One weekend, typically in the Spring, we take a pass through Laurelwood Elementary School to clear trash and debris. Cubs and their parents get to make a difference, and Cubs see first hand the impact that they can make to improve their communities.
