Community Garden update and Play Day schedule. Hang onto your reading glasses 'cuz we've got lots of news.

1. Plots - As of today we are 70% sold! Fabulini for those who've signed up. Better Hurry for those who are still pondering.

2. Garden Play Days - Saturdays 4/23 & 4/30 will be our getting the garden ready to plant days. Rain days will be Sundays 4/24 & 5/1. We will start @ 10:00 a.m. and play 'til we can't play no mo. Here's what we'll be doing and what you will need to bring:

We will be building at least twelve 4' x 8' bed frames to be used in the communal area. This will make it easier to identify and water the veggies that will be donated to the Food Bank, Soup kitchens, missions etc.

• We will be helping fix any bed frames that may have weakened over the winter

• If available, we will be adding more shredded bark to areas as needed

• General cleanup of paths, compost area

• Hookup hoses, organize garden shed

• If available, add soil to beds as needed

• Go over garden rules and show newbies how to turn H20 on and off

• Talk about new things we'd like to see in the Community Garden

What you need to bring with you:

• Shovel and rake

• Cordless drill with bits for star screws and phillip head screws

• work gloves

• box cutter

• pitch fork for getting your own beds ready to plant

• bring seeds for planting (peas, lettuce, beets, spinach) - for your own plots and/or communal plots)

• ideas for things you'd like to see at the Community Garden (i.e. picnic table, wine bar, big screen tv)
