Teacher

Lee Ann Kanren-An Nail (Sensei An) received transmission from Ruben Habito Roshi in 2012 and appointment as a teacher at the Maria Kannon Zen Center. In 2015 she was additionally appointed as a Diamond Sangha apprentice teacher by Leonard Marcel Roshi. In Oregon, she serves as the teacher for the Unitarian Universalist Compassionate Mind Sangha and Salem Zen Center. Her training includes 30+ years of formal Zen training, 23 years of which were at Zen Mountain Monastery, serving as head seminarian there in 1993. She was charged, as their development director, with overseeing the retirement of all mortgages and debts on the 230 acre property. Upon moving to Oregon, she studied for several years with Chozen Sensei and Shodo Harada Roshi. Sensei is an annual speaker at the International Lay Buddhist Forum with a particular interest in Buddhist Modernism and the propensity within American Zen, for dual relationships. As a Licensed Master Social Worker, she presents regularly on this subject.
