FOR SALE Aluminium Hatch Runners - £5 Plus Postage

Sailfish 18/046 - £895 Boat and trailer are SOLD (outboard is still for sale)

Illuminatus is a stylish boat and, unlike most trailer-sailers, is fast but stable thanks to its lead-weighted vertically lifting keel, which has the essential modification to stop it falling out. When raised, the keel is flush with the bottom making the boat easy to launch and recover and she can float in water not deep enough to come over the top of your wellies. The Sailfish 18 has been popularised as a “minimal boat” by Dave Selby of Practical Boat Owner, who plans to sail his from Maldon to the Southampton Boat Show this year.  There is an active owners’ association. With a new depth sounder and speed log impeller, she is freshly antifouled and ready to sail. The 4hp outboard engine and 20ft trailer are available separately.

Dimensions: LOA 18’6”, Beam 7’2”, Draft keel down 3’, up 1’. Displacement 1000lb (454kg)

Equipment: Danforth style anchor and chain, demountable saloon table, boathook, fenders, boarding ladder, floating safety cushion. Mainsheet traveller and adjustable genoa cars. Handle for raising/lowering keel. Handle for reefing mainsail around the boom. Sail cover.

Engine: (available separately £195) Mercury 40 (4hp) two-stroke with remote fuel tank. Serviced 2015 with new spark plug, water pump impeller and gearbox oil seal.

This new boat is based on over 30 year’s experience of using a trailer sailor for day sailing, holidays, and racing.
The Sailfish 18 incorporates all the best features to make it a truly remarkable little ship.
The cockpit has extra comfortable seats 6ft long and can accommodate four or more sailors in comfort for relaxed day sailing.
The simple lead balanced retractable keel means the boat can be taken onto a beach and remain upright, yet gives excellent sailing performance when fully lowered. A Sailfish floats in 6” of water and is easy to launch and recover.
The cabin has the advantage of windows all round making it light and great to just sit on the comfortable bunks and view the surroundings.
If you want to spend a weekend or longer the boat comes complete with chemical toilet and cooking area. There are two long bunks either side of the cabin for a peaceful nights rest or erect a boom tent over the cockpit for even more room, enough to take two more asleep.
Can be sailed single handed and has a wide beam for stability, is inexpensive, and being trailerable, means not having to pay for expensive marina berths.
The aluminium mast and boom are easily raised when ready to launch with roller reefing jib

Complete with braked fully galvanised trailer

A SAILFISH 18 makes an ideal day sailor or weekender being easy to trail behind the average family car as it comes with a fully galvanised trailer.

Demonstration sail available at Rutland Water.

Sailfish 18/450 Marigold - £1800.00 New Lower Price (Was £2150)

The all important keel modification has been done ...last passed muster in an inspection in autumn 2001. Sadly, as I purchased the boat in 2004 - and have only sailed her 4 times in the intervening years - there's unlikely to have been much change since then! Likewise with the motor: a 4HP Mercury sailpower, scruffy, reliable and not used since it's last full service in autumn 2010. The boat, known as "Marigold", also comes with a refurbished (2012) self-furling jib and a lightweight, roadworthy Brenderup trailer - purchased second hand in 2011 - previous owner confirmed that the trailer has never been used for launching...and again, sadly, has not since been used for launching by myself. The vessel has not been in the water since it's last anti-fouling treatment. It has been a resident in the Bawdsey Haven Yacht club compound at the mouth of the Deben estuary since 2004.

Now lying Woodbridge, Suffolk.

Reason for sale: A lot of family ill-health and demands of working life have resulted in the boat not being used and there's no change on the horizon; I'd like it to go to someone who can properly enjoy it!
