Sigma Alpha is a professional agricultural sorority that promotes scholarship, leadership, service and fellowship among its members. It is a member of the Professional Fraternity Association, a national organization of professional Greek letter organizations and The Consortium of Collegiate Agricultural Organizations.
The sorority was founded in 1978 at the Ohio State University by five women who wanted an alternative to the social Greek sorority system. On the UW-River Falls Campus Sigma Alpha was establish on February 18, 2006 and since has initiated over one hundred women.
We’re growing steadily as others in agriculture learn about the powerful network and professional skills us as Sigma Alpha women can provide. You’ll find Sigma Alpha members standing out as leaders on the River Falls campus, in our internships, and in our careers after our undergraduate years. We are the cream of the crop in and outside of the Agricultural industry.
Though our values hold strong to agriculture, you do not have had to been in agriculture or have a major in the College of Agriculture, Food, and Environmental Sciences to be a Sigma Alpha member. You simply have to have a passion to educate people about agriculture and hold true to the ideals of the sorority—scholarship, leadership, fellowship, and service.
