Letter of Recommendation Policy

(for Students)

Students planning to request a Letter of Recommendation (LoR) from me should read the following.

Effective January 2021, I provide a LoR to a current/former student only if one or more of the following three conditions are satisfied:

1. The student has pursued M.S./Ph.D. under my supervision/joint-supervision.

2. The student has pursued M.Tech. Project/B.Tech. Project under my supervision/joint-supervision, and has received an "EX" grade.

3. The student has pursued a research project under my supervision (possibly as part of a B.Tech./M.Tech. project), which has led to at least one peer-reviewed joint publication with me.

I do not provide a LoR to a student who has performed a summer/winter/long-term internship with me, if that internship has not led to any peer-reviewed joint publication. I only provide a Certificate of Internship in such cases.

Finally, and most importantly, I do not provide any LoR to students whom I have merely taught courses as the assigned instructor.
