Each year, nearly 200,000 children and adults benefit from oral screenings, examinations, sealant applications and educational programs offered through the college of hearth fairs, nursing homes, elementary school and correctional facilities. In addition, patients make more than 100,000 visits annually to the dental school's clinics to receive treatment for a wide variety of oral heath issues. Fees are about 30-40% less than those charged by private dentists. Not income based service.

Assistance and Referral is the core program of Helping Hands. The program serves Rockwall County residents in financial crisis. Financial relief is pledged for critical needs as part of a strategic plan that is worked out between the applicant and a Helping Hands volunteer or staff member.
Helping Hands is committed to providing sufficient resources to make a significant difference for families in Rockwall County. Through the Assistance and Referral office, clients receive assistance with utilities, shelter, food, clothes, furniture and household items. Staff often works in partnership with other agencies to provide relief to clients in times of crisis.
Bilingual services (Spanish) are available Tuesdays and Thursdays, and from 10-12 on Wednesdays. Clients are welcome to bring an interpreter (must be at least 18 years old) on other days.
Trained volunteers are critical to this program and provide the support, energy and care so vital to serving those who come in need.

The Texas Health Law Hotline is a project of Texas Legal Services Center which is funded to promote equal access to justice for all people of limited means. The hotline offers legal advice and referrrals to Texasn age sixty (60) and up, provided by staff and volunteer attorneys. We provide legal information and advice in obtaining benefits such as Medicade for Qualified Medicare Beneficiaries, food stamps, elderly housing assistance and SSI. We also can answer other legal questions such as debt collection, advance planning and estate planning issues, powers of attorney and housing and comsumer problems.

Offers financial management services and sonsultations, assissts with job search and employment opportunities, advocates for nusing home residents, educates the communithy on issues affecting older adults, coordinates volunteer activities for retirees and places older adults as elementary school tutors and mentors. Protects the health and well being of vulnerable elderly.

There is CPR classes ( the one schedule early September is full) Cost is $30.00 There is fire academy classes - don't have one scheduled yet- Just finished classes - they do those twice a year There is CERT (Community Emergency Response teams) don't have one scheduled - those are also twice a year or so.
