2008 Fall Cruise

Pictures from the Rollin' Nostalgia 2008 Fall Cruise

The 2008 Fall Cruise to the Leaves (Food) was held on Sunday, October 26th.

Meeting at the Pittsburg High School parking lot before 9 am, a rather large group of car dudes and dudettes headed East looking for a little warmth and some scenic back-country. "Pausing" at Greenwood, Missouri, we leisurely continued towards our final destination of Bolivar, Missouri, encountering one-lane bridges, several small farm-towns and some great rural scenes. As everyone finished a great lunch at the Smith's Restaurant, we migrated to the parking lot where one particular Mustang in the club began to draw quite a crowd. People were trying to get the Mustang owners to get in their car, but they just wouldn't do it. Never did quite understand it, although overheard talk about hammers, tire-irons, some guy named Slim Jim and calling "911". Sounded like trouble. After a while, a guy in a tow truck showed up. Must have been that Slim Jim dude but he wasn't that slim and "Jim" wasn't the name on the truck, either. Anyway, Slim and a bunch of people huddled around the Mustang (and it's owners) like they were real interested in what Slim had to say and what he was doing. He must have been real persuading (had some kind of "visual" aid with him) because after a bit I heard some applause, everyone kinda dispersed and then Slim left. Well, the Mustang owners must have "got the message". They got in their car without any more fussing and we all headed to the antique stores just like nothing happened.

Later in the afternoon, everyone chose their own way home, ending a perfect day of enjoying the old cars out in the country with great friends.
