Ms. N. Arbis was 44 years old in 2005 when she underwent subtotal thyroidectomy, right, at Manila Doctors Hospital. The histopathology report showed papillary thyroid carcinoma. In 2006, neck nodes were seen on the right side. A selective neck dissection showed 3 positive metastatic thyroid carcinomas. She was placed on levothyroxine therapy. In 2014, when she underwent completion thyroidectomy but the nodules on the left remaining lobe were benign. She is now 11 years old in remission counting from the first operation in 2005. We both thank God for this long remission. Ms. Arbis gave her consent to publish her story in order to serve as an inspiration to others.

Ms. Cynthia Colle was 45 years old when she underwent total thyroidectomy. She had multiple colloid adenomatous goiter with a small focus of papillary carcinoma.I just maintained her on thyroid replacement and suppressive therapy. Then, symptom- and sign-surveillance (basically physical examination). She is now 56 years old with no evidence of recurrence at 11 years postop. We both thank God for this long remission. Ms. Colle gave her permission to tell her story in order to serve as an inspiration for other patients with thyroid cancer (especially those with papillary carcinoma on top of a multiple colloid adenomatous goiter) and patients with potential thyroid cancer.

KSC – now 53 years old – a nurse now working in the USA.

October 21, 2022, we had a video chat as she consulted me for a health problem (breast), which I will not tackle here.

She introduced herself and told me that I operated on her in October 1999 (when she was 30 years old) for another health problem (thyroid). I cannot remember her anymore and also, I cannot remember what operation I did on her in 1999. Fortunately, she had a copy of the operative record that I made and she showed it to me.
