An experienced and enthusiastic teacher of violin and viola, Robert currently teaches at ArtForms Leeds. He previously taught at St Peter's 8-13 School, York from 2015 until 2023.
While some pupils have achieved Distinction in Grade 8 and the ARSM diploma, Robert is equally at home teaching beginners and intermediate players. He enjoys a combination of teaching individual violin lessons, small group lessons, and whole classes.
Robert's experience as an ensemble director has included conducting string orchestras and a music centre orchestra, coaching string quartets and orchestral violin sections, and directing choirs.
Additionally he has experience of delivering primary curriculum class music lessons, and has provided piano accompaniment for school productions, assemblies and grade exams.
An active member of the European String Teachers' Association, Robert has twice attended the ESTA summer school, and co-organised a strings workshop day in York in 2016. While a student at Birmingham Conservatoire, he benefitted from training sessions with experts in the field of string teaching.
Before moving to Yorkshire, Robert worked as a violin teacher and string ensemble tutor with Staffordshire Performing Arts and with Birmingham Music Service.
