América Quistiano: I am all over the place activity wise. For starters, I am the senior that created the school newspaper in hope of increasing communication in our school. I am also in my third year of yearbook, where this year I have the honor of being one of the editors. Yearbook has become a big part of my life and I’m thankful for it, and the people in it, every day I go there. Art has also been a big part of my life. I have been in art since basically elementary school, and although I'm not in art class this year, I continue my passion for art by being an Art club officer for the third year now. I'm also a dancer at a dance studio, where I've been dancing for 6 consecutive, 8 total, years now alongside my two little sisters. I've also recently became a photographer for the Gaylord Texan. But the biggest part of my life, apart from my family of course, is Academics. Being an AP kid and all, academics has become life, but I like the challenge it presents and the people I've met because of it.
Alyssa Kunkel (Kunk): América had this great idea of creating a newspaper, so I decided to help found it. I am a super busy student, but somehow, I always find time to help with or do everything. I am in my third year in Yearbook, being an editor two of the three. I am also in my seventh year of trumpet playing and Richland Band President (band takes up most of my life really but it’s okay I love it). I am also in five AP classes and very involved in my church, St. Stephen’s Hurst. Along with my team, I have attended Destination Imagination Global Finals twice (I’ve been doing DI since 1st grade), and we hope to go one last time this year. I am pursuing a passion for music and education in college and honestly have an obsession with music in any form or fashion. I have a hobby of driving around and listening to any kind of Musical music (literally anywhere from HSM to Chicago to Hairspray) and writing short stories and poetry.
Georgia James: You never really realize how little you do until you're asked to write about yourself. I am a senior, the Richland Swim Team manager and the proud mother of two kittens (they just turned one). Just this year I joined art club and started writing for the newspaper, both of which have been amazing experiences. I'm in five AP classes and I really enjoy a good book. Science is my jam and I hope to go into either biochemistry or neuroscience after I graduate. I am fond of trivia and have a soft spot of animals of any kind (I have four cats TOTAL, one dog, and one lizard). I life guard over the summer and am CPR certified and I really love to travel. I'm really into music (who isn't) and I play the piano and was once in choir. My main hobby, however, is bingewatching shows on Netflix. That's pretty much it. Thanks for reading.
Diane Taing: My life consists of swimming, eating, and sleeping sometimes. Although I really enjoy sleeping in for 12+ hours, I don’t get to do it very often because swim and AP classes don’t go hand in hand if you really want to sleep. I practically live off of coffee, but it’s cool because I love coffee. I’ve gotten used to a crazy schedule these past 3 years, going on 4. Waking up at 4:45am, driving to Grapevine and jumping into a cold pool all before 6 am sounds like it’s hard, but it’s not that bad at times, especially when you like what you do. Being a captain this year, and having a summer Olympics prior to school beginning, I'm more motivated than ever before for this swim season! Because of swim, a huge perk is the amount of calories burned at each practice, which means I can essentially eat what I want (I probably shouldn’t, but I do because I can). This is a big reason why I’m so into food and just eating in general. Going out to eat and enjoying food is one of life’s simple pleasures, which I definitely enjoy to the max.
Kyleigh Whitsell: Music, English, Earth. I have always had a fondness for music that I express through singing in choir. I have been in choir since 6th grade, totaling about 6 years now, and I love it. I'm even an officer this year. I also have an interest in the English language. I almost always have my nose in a book and I am a creative writing student. Ever since I was little I’ve wanted to help the planet in someway. I am an Environmental Science student and plan to do it for the rest of my life. In addition to those three words, I also adore Harry Potter, dogs, and my boyfriend, Luke.
The idea to restart the Rebel Newspaper after approximately a 15 year hiatus was given to us by the wonderful Mrs. Burk. Credit and special thanks to her.
