Sharing your Laptop Internet Connection to Other Devices

If you are in a situation that you are only having internet connection in your laptop and you don't have router or wireless router available to share it. Well you can still share your internet connection in your laptop or desktop PC by just configuring it.

This kind of network configuration if called ad hoc connection.

In this example i will be using Windows 7 Operating System.

First step is to create a wireless network, (this is for a wireless connection only, but basically for the wired this will also work)

Second Step is to share your internet connection on the unit where you create your ad hoc wireless network. Go to network and sharing center once again and this time select, change adapter settings

The last step is to connect using other device on the newly created ad hoc connection with a shared internet connection setting enabled. Now in cases that you connecting device unable to acquire ip address, you can put manual ip address in the same rage with you ad hoc unit.

For the number of connections that this ad hoc unit can handle depends on the Operating System. In our example Windows 7 Workstation can handle 20 simultaneous connections. But on my experience I was only able to use of up to two units as I only have two extra devices to connect to my ad hoc unit.
