Due to laptops' compact design of its keyboard you cannot have a numeric keypad the same as design on your ordinary keyboard but mostly, laptop have a numeric numbers on it. Not those numbers arrange in series at the top of the qwerty keys. Numeric equivalent can be found in the alphabet character in your keyboard. As you can see there are alphabet characters that has a numbers on it, and mostly it is colored differently that the alphabet character. Those numbers are the numbers equivalent to numeric keypad keys. Keys with Function key (FN) numbers are usually letter M, J, K, L, U, I, O, and number keys 7, 8, and 9.

To use these numbers you can press the Function Key (Fn) in your keyboard simultaneously with those keys.

As you can see inputting ALT + key codes in your laptop doesn't work anymore, but if your press ALT + Fn + key codes, using the number keypad keys equivalent, those special character will now display. Like for example you want to type (Ñ). Ñ has a key code of 165 and 164 it the small caps of it.

What you will do is Press Fn + Alt + 165(JOI) simultaneously.

And in some application like Microsoft Word you can have this by pressing Ctrl + Shift + ~ simultaneously then after press the N key. To have it small or big caps just set the Caps Lock key to the desired Caps.

Or you can just simply copy this, Ñ or ñ.
