Jacob Brock
Jacob Brock was born on June 3, 1845 in Greene County, PA. Jacob moved to Wetzel County, West Virginia with his father Joseph and mother Sarah Freeman Brock between 1851 and 1854. They first settled at the foot of Limestone Hill and lived in a log cabin. After a year, they built a house on what is now known as Brock Ridge.
He served as corporal during the Civil War. He first married Mary Belle Dulaney, daughter of James Dulaney and Tabitha Rush Dulaney on December 21, 1871 in Wetzel County, WV. I have no research on his first wife.
He next married Hannah Elizabeth Hawkins, daughter of Samuel Davis Hawkins and Hannnah Watters on October 5, 1876 in Wetzel County, WV. They had nine children: Mary Belle (Molly), Jessie May, Bertha Alverta, Wilson Freeman, Hannah Elizabeth, Samuel Jacob, John Edgar, Sarah Elizabeth, Trixie Hazel.
Jacob Brock's Obituary:
The death of Jacob Brock occurred in Proctor District Thursday, August 29th, 1918. Mr. Brock was aged 74 years, and was widely known in Wetzel County. He is survived by his widow, three sons, one of who is in France and five daughters. Funeral services conducted by J. W. Funk were held at the home on Friday and interment was made in Brock Cemetery.
