According to a story written about this family called Chips Shaving Splinters in 1965 by Hazel White Nalley the following information was gathered on this family:

The Henry’s like the Thorburns were Scotch Presbyterians. The first Robert Henry who had married Jane Stuart in 1803 had the following children: Samuel; Rebecca; Stuart; Robert; Olivia; Margaret; Jane; Henry Patrick. Jane Stuart Henry was born August 15, 1784 in Delaware. She and Robert Henry, I were married October 20, 1803. She died September 11, 1865. It is said that Robert Henry, died from a tragic accident, as a gun held by his son Robert, II then ten years old, accidentally discharged causing the death of his father. This was in 1822 and it left the mother with eight children in her care. In later years, Jane Stuart Henry lived with her son Robert II, and his wife Susan Thoburn Henry in Ella, West Virginia.

Robert Henry II, was born around 1811 in Belmont County, Ohio and died 1895 in Marshall County, WV. He married Susan Thoburn in Belmont County, Ohio and later moved to Ella, WV in Marshall County. According to the Wheeling Intelligencer in the October 7, 1939 issue the Henry’s were among the first settlers to this area along with families such as Burch, McCollock, Yoho and Resseger, where they first established their homes, then a church and school. He and his wife Susan Thoburn Henry are buried in the Fairview Cemetery. They had seven children: Abraham, Jane, Alexander, Isabella, James, Thomas, Margaret.
