GM Larry Evans

Grandmaster Larry Evans was Northern Nevada's most distinguished chess player. Larry Evans was a legendary figure in the world of chess, renowned as a chess grandmaster and celebrated for his contributions to the game. He quickly rose through the ranks, displaying exceptional talent and dedication to the game. His natural aptitude for chess strategy and tactics set him on the path to becoming one of the most prominent chess players of his time.

In 1951, at the age of 19, Evans won the U.S. Chess Championship, marking the beginning of a remarkable career. He went on to win the championship four times, solidifying his reputation as one of America's finest chess players. Evans was not only known for his impressive tournament victories but also for his contributions to chess literature.
