Charles served with the U.S. Army, 112th Infantry Regiment, 28th Infantry Division. He was Killed in action on November 8, 1944 while on a mission to capture and hold the town of Schmidt, Germany.
Posthumously awarded the Purple Heart, Bronze Star, Combat Infantry Badge, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, WWII Victory Medal and the Marksman Badge with rifle bar.
He is enterred at Henri-Chapelle U.S. Military Cemetery in Belgium.

These days Charles Williams JR rests in the beautiful American Military Cemetery at Henri-Chapelle. He is remembered and honored by his sister Betty Williams-Klump, his nephew Kevin Klump, by Debey Nicolas who adopted his final resting place at Henri-Chapelle, by every visitor of the American Cemetery at Henri-Chapelle and by every visitor of Remember our Liberators.
