Teaching & Learning Philosophy

I started teaching in the year 2000 without knowing how long I am going to stay in this carrier path. Honestly, it was not my “dream job” at all at that time. The economy was bad, and not many jobs were offered by the industry, and education industry is one of those sectors that is always immune to the economic downturn. However, now in the year 2020, after 21 years in this path, I am glad that still here in the same path. I feel so incredibly blessed to be “chosen” to be in this path after those many years. And, I am more than determined now that I will be in this path till the end, Insya Allah.

Why? Here are my TOP 4 reasons:

1. I never get tired of doing my job. Teaching is a never ending process. I teach and at the same time, I will learn new things from others, especially from the students every single day. You TEACH, You LEARN.

2. Teaching is a noble job. People will learn from your teaching and it will always be rewarded by Allah for your good deeds endlessly. Moreover, there is nothing that can describe the feeling when your student become a successful person in his/her life.

3. It is not just about teaching. It is more than that. Research, publications, community engagement, and services to university to name few of countless activities to be embarked by an academician. Doing all these activities will occupy most of my times and a year just feel like only a few months! Unfortunately, I always behind schedule J

4. My educator tagline is “Moving Responsive Responsible (MRR)”, which coincides with my name Mohd Rizal Razalli (MRR). The MRR tagline always remind me to reflect myself on things that I have done as an academician. In other words, I need to push myself to be responsive to my stakeholders (in this case my students) as well as acting responsibly towards achieving my target/aims. To me, both values need to come together to have a balance in life. The impact of actions to others should be the main concern. As a Muslim teacher, I need to be responsible to Allah, students, colleagues, top management, parents and the society in general.
