Here is a very interesting page That displays many amateur weather station conditions, displayed almost in real time. Be patient if it doesn't seem to be working well. Sometimes it takes a long time to load all of the data since it is coming over the web from each and every one of those sites. The station you will be most interested in is the one at the Rochester airport or, if you can find one closer to the pond, use that. Bear in mind that some of these stations are in peoples back yards with some sheltering from the wind. By clicking on the dot at that spot you will see more details and more links to yet more info.
This site is intended for the hang glider crowd. You will see a display of predicted wind speed and direction for the next 72 hours.
