Digitally Signing A PDF Document
Instructions for e-signing a PDF document will depend on which PDF tool you are using. If your reader is not listed below, the instructions are likely to be similar.
Adobe Acrobat Reader:
Click on the signature text box.
Click the “Configure Digital ID” button.
Select “Create a new Digital ID” and click the Continue button.
Choose either “Save to File” or “Save to Windows Certificate Store” and click the Continue button.
Enter your:
Name
Email Address (please use the email address from which you will send your documents)
Country/Region
Key Algorithm: 2048-bit RSA
Use Digital ID for: Digital Signatures
Click the "Save" button
Ensure the Digital ID you just created is selected and click the "Continue" button.
Make sure the “Lock document after signing” checkbox is checked.
Click the Sign button.
Save the signed version of the file.
Foxit PDF Reader:
Click on the signature text box.
From the “Sign As” drop down list, select New Id.
Select “A new digital Id I want to create now” and click the "Next" button.
Select either “New PKCS#12 digital ID file” or “Windows Certificate Store” and click the "Next" button.
Enter your:
Name
Email Address (please use the email address from which you will send your documents)
Country/Region
Key Algorithm: 2048-bit RSA
Use Digital ID for: Digital Signatures
Click the "Save" button
Ensure the “Sign As” drop down list has selected your new signature.
In the “Text for Signing” section, select the “Reason": “I attest to the accuracy and integrity of this document”.
Ensure you "Lock the document" after signing.
Click the "Sign" button.
Save the signed version of the file.
