ADVANCED CARDIOVASCULAR LIFE SUPPORT (ACLS)

INTRODUCTION

Advanced Cardiac Life Support is a classroom based course for healthcare professionals. Participants will learn nursing skills associated with strokes, acute coronary syndromes (ACS), and code situations. Participants must be able to Interpret cardiac rhythms prior to start of class. Queen City CPR does offer a two-hour cardiac monitor interpretation course for those with limited experience interpreting rhythms. Participants must be licensed as a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse. Queen City CPR utilizes the 2019 guidelines that were set by the American Heart Association. These are the most up to date guidelines available and provide the greatest chance of success and recovery in an emergency situation. The course is taught by Registered Nurses and Nurse Practitioners who possess a Master's Degree in nursing education.

COURSE OVERVIEW

During the ACLS course the participant will learn how to manage the care of a victim during a "code" situation. The participants will learn which medications to administer to treat common dysrhythmias, how to intubate, and proper responses during an emergency situation. Participants will also learn how to recognize and provide care to stroke and ACS patients. Queen City CPR has experience in educating staff and management how to utilize the ACLS guidelines in the long-term care setting in order to prevent hospital re-admission. ACLS is a two day course. The first day the material is taught to the participants and lasts approximately 8 hours. The second day the learned material is "put all together" and the participants have the opportunity to show what they have learned during the megacode and written evaluation. The second day of the course is typically 4-6 hours. Queen City CPR provides all materials, mannequins, AED's, and testing materials. Upon Successful completion of the course you will receive your certification card in approximately one week.
