I have served in some sort of teaching capacity since 1986, and never get tired of helping people discover their natural talents. I have a wide variety of teaching experiences, ranging from private instruction to teaching in the public schools. I have enjoyed teaching students ranging in age from 3 to 70+ years, and in experience from novice to advanced.
I set up my private music studio in Denver in 1987 - teaching piano, clarinet, saxophone, flute and music lessons. My studio has been in continuous operation since that time.
Currently, I also conduct the bands, orchestras, and the percussion ensemble at Thomas Jefferson High School. My accomplishments include:
coordinator for the district honor bands and orchestras - multiple years
district music assessment committee - 2 years
guest conductor for district honor bands and orchestra - 3 years
presenter at professional development sessions, including CMEA
My approach to teaching music is eclectic, drawing from my training in the Orff-Schulwerk, Kodaly, the Suzuki methods, and most recently participation in a World Music Drumming class. I have both a bachelors and masters degree in music education. Other certifications include -
Kodaly certification - level 1, 2, 3 & capstone
Orff-Schulwerk certification - level 1,
Suzuki piano - level 1
World music drumming - level 1
I look forward to hearing from you.
