The Mathematics Student
The Mathematics Student is a quarterly published periodical of the Indian Mathematical Society, which is the oldest organization in India devoted to the promotion of study and research in Mathematics, founded in 1907. The Mathematics Student usually contains the texts of addresses, talks and lectures delivered at the Annual Conferences of the Society, the abstracts of research papers presented at the Annual Conferences, and the Proceedings of the Society's Annual Conferences, as well as research papers, expository and popular articles, and book reviews.
The Mathematics Student seeks to publish material of interest not just to mathematicians with specialized interests but to the post graduate/research students teachers of Mathematics in India. With this in view, from the 2015 issue onwards, it will publish material of the following type:
Research papers.
The texts (written in a way accessible to students) of the Presidential Addresses, the Plenary talks and the Award Lectures delivered at the Annual Conferences.
General survey articles, popular articles, expository papers, Book-Reviews.
Problems and solutions of the problems.
New, clever proofs of theorems that graduate / undergraduate students might see in their course work, and
Articles that arouse curiosity and interest for learning mathematics among readers and motivate them for doing mathematics.
Contributions of these type are invited for publication in THE MATHEMATICS STUDENT.
