NATIONAL BOARD FOR HIGHER MATHEMATICS
SCHOLARSHIPS FOR PURSUING DOCTORAL PROGRAM
(Ph.D) IN MATHEMATICS
FOR THE ACADEMIC YEAR 2019-20
The National Board for Higher Mathematics (NBHM) invites applications to appear for the joint screening test for (i) the grant of NBHM scholarships to students for pursuing PhD in Mathematics and (ii) admissions to PhD/Integrated PhD programmes of certain institutions in India which include IMSc Chennai, HRI Allahabad, IISER Pune, and NISER Bhubaneswar. Selection will be made on the basis of a written test followed by an interview of shortlisted candidates.
Who can apply?
Ø Students who have completed or are in the final year of MA/MSc Mathematics program with good academic record (at least first class) in all years from plus two level to the present.
Ø Students holding a four year BS (or equivalent) degree or in the final year of such a programme.
Ø Students who wish to apply for the Ph.D./Integrated Ph.D. programmes of above mentioned institutions must apply and appear for the written test. BSc Hons students are also considered.
The written test will be conducted at the following centres:
Zone 1: Chandigarh, New Delhi, Srinagar.

Zone 2: Allahabad, Indore, Jabalpur, Raipur.

Eligibility to receive the NBHM Ph.D. scholarship is restricted to students who have completed their B.S./M.A./M.Sc. (or equivalent) degree and have secured admission to a recognized Ph.D. programme on or before August 1, 2019.
How to Apply?
Applications should be made in the format (including a passport size photograph of the applicant) given at the end of this advertisement. It should preferably be sent through email, or through speed-post, to the Zonal Coordinator of the zone in which the candidate wishes to appear for the written test. Addresses of the zonal coordinators are given in the nbhm website mentioned below.
Online applications are accepted only in Zone-1 at nbhm.cdaapuchd.in. Applications are accepted through email in all zones.
In case applicant want to send application through speed-post, the envelope containing the application should be superscribed “NBHM Ph.D. Scholarship 2019-20”.
Each candidate should clearly indicate two centres from the zone in which (s)he wishes to appear for the test, in order of preference.
Important Dates
December 7, 2018 : Last date for receiving applications.
January 4, 2019 : Applicant should contact zonal coordinator if hall ticket is not received by this date.
January 19, 2019 : Date of written test.
