Praise for R.L. Seaton's Quitting

Note: The author is, in fact, Glenn "Moon" Morison

Quitting is a haunting cautionary tale about depression and the darker side of voluntary simplicity. It is also an endearing character portrait, interlacing humour, wit, and irony with profound spiritual insight. Like the act itself, "Quitting" can be tough, but it can also change your life for the better.

Scott Sharplin (Playwright of Inferno Sonata and other titles, Sydney, NS)

What a crazy ride- it was harrowing, thought provoking, heart rending, smart and funny. Not only was I thoroughly entertained, there is A LOT there to think about- what more can you ask for?

Joan Hreno (English Instructor in the University of Winnipeg Continuing Education Division)

An honest work of fiction!

I loved it!

Well written!

Miriam Toews (Author of All My Puny Sorrows and other titles)

Quitting is a seductively simple read for the first few pages then you realize it is a literary ambush by a complex, multi-layered and kaleidoscopic work. It is bright and dark portrait of the putative diarist's day by day surrendering of his marriage and familial relationships following his wife's single act of marital infidelity. Its flashes of good humour, wit and insightful observations flow from a unique and inventive literary style. Quitting is an unnerving, disturbing, addictive and literary "pre-mortem" examining the gizzards, heart, bile and brain of a living corpse in prolonged decay. Yet it is also a sobering and readable concoction of all of our lives. Morison has created a unique work masquerading as a simple tale. (Click here to read entire review)

John Ishmael (Author of The Black Bug, Chosen World and other titles)

Very good. Very very good.

Michael Thomson (Judge, Court of Queen's Bench)

This is a phenomenal piece of fiction. It can be jarring at times but it is worth it. He takes you to a dangerous and perplexing place where you really don't want to go and certainly have no interest in staying. Yet, when you are finished the book, you treasure the journey. I saw the book and thought a book about an Economist couldn't possibly be interesting. I could not have been more wrong.

David Lewis Ford Jones (English Instructor at North West College, Hazelton, BC)

Though it tells a troubling story, Quitting does so with wit and humour... and is a fun and enjoyable to read. (Click here to read the entire review)

Jacquie Nicholson (Editor, The Inside Scoop)

Positively challenging and educational, rather than (but as well as) entertaining.
