To update the software in any PXT or PXT2 follow the steps below to the end. Do not skip steps or quit when the software is updated. There are important steps at the end that will ensure the machine is calibrated correctly.
Power the machine.
Remove fill label.
Install a previously programmed USB drive into back bottom corner of the HMI. The HMI should beep as it recognizes the USB drive.
Update Software in the PLC: (Formerly Step 6)
Take note of the number in the bottom left of the home screen. You will use this number as a reference point later to determine if the software has updated.
Press and hold the inset round system button above the USB slot until it beeps. The HMI should go to a blue maintenance home screen.
From the blue maintenance home screen, press "Up/Download". Three options should be shown.
Navigate to option "3/3" and press "Transfer Mode" that has the icon showing "HMI <---> PLC".
On the RIGHT side of the screen, press "COM2:\" twice, or until a popup appears that says "ELC searching __%".
Wait around 30 seconds for the searching. "ELCM-PA ..." should appear under "COM2:\".
NOTE: If "ELCM-PA..." doesn't appear, power cycle the machine and restart step 6. See below for further information.
Press "ELCM-PA...". It should be highlighted.
On the LEFT side of the screen, press "USB:\". A tree should expand below it.
Press "BGPXT265" (or higher if applicable).
NOTE: If your drive has a number lower than "...265", update the drive with this link.
Press ">> Download" on the bottom menu bar.
Enter password "2847" and press enter. A popup should appear that asks, "Write-in forbidden when PLC is running ! This action will affect the PLC connecting status, do you want to continue ?"
NOTE: If the password won't take after several attempts, power cycle the machine and reattempt.
NOTE: If it still won't take after power cycles, try password "6263".
NOTE: If the problem persists, stop the update and either order a replacement PXT-010 or contact BG Products at (316) 265-2686.
Press "YES".
Wait approximately 30 seconds for the PLC to program. A popup should appear that asks, "Recover the executing status before the program was download ?"
Press "YES". A popup should appear that says "ELC download succeed !"
Press "OK".
From the top right corner, press "Home".
From the top right corner, press "RUN".
Check the bottom left corner, based on the software version of the HMI. If the number is something like "2.6.2" or "2.6", etc., continue to step 5. If it is not, reattempt step 4.
NOTE: If after several attempts the number hasn't changed, stop the update and either order a replacement PXT-010 or contact BG Products at (316) 265-2686.
Update Firmware in the HMI: (Formerly Step 4)
Press and hold the inset round system button above the USB slot until it beeps. The HMI should go to a blue maintenance home screen.
Press "System Settings" (top left option). There will be a navigation bar across the bottom with arrows pointing left and right.
Navigate through the bottom menu bar and press "File Manager". The top portion of the screen will turn blue with 5 options.
Navigate to option "4/5" and press "F/W Update". A screen showing disk drives of "HMI:\" and "USB:\" should be on the left half.
Press "USB:\" twice, or until the tree expands and shows "HMI-000", "HMI-001", and "HMI-002".
Press "HMI-000". The text above the graphic should read "Version 2.0142" or higher (or 2.080 for HMI-001).
If the text below the graphic reads "Version ?.????", press HMI-001.
If it still reads "Version ?.????", press HMI-002.
Once the version text below the graphic reads a number instead of ?:
Take note of which folder worked for use later.
If that number is the SAME OR LOWER, press "Home" in the top right and proceed to "Step 5.2" below.
If it is less than the number on the top, press "UPDATE" on the bottom menu bar. A popup will appear asking "Update FW From This Directory?"
Press "YES". A popup will appear that says "Processing".
Wait around 10 seconds for processing. A popup should appear that says "FW File Burn Success!!"
Press "OK".
Update Software in the HMI: (Formerly Step 5)
Press and hold the inset round system button above the USB slot until it beeps. The HMI should go to a blue maintenance home screen.
Press "System Settings" (top left option). There will be a navigation bar across the bottom with arrows pointing left and right.
Press "File Manager".
Press "File Encrypt".
Press "USB:\" until the tree expands.
Press "HMI-000".
Press "ENCRYPT".
Enter Password "4143788" and press enter.
Enter Copy Counter "9999" and press enter.
Enter Copy Password "0123" and press enter.
Wait for file processing.
When "System Info - File Encrypt Success!!" appears, press "OK".
Press "HMI-001" and repeat the steps above starting at 6 to encrypt the file.
Press "HMI-002" and repeat the steps above starting at 6 to encrypt the file.
Press the "back" button in the upper right hand corner.
Navigate through the bottom menu bar and press "File Manager". The top portion of the screen will turn blue with 5 options.
Navigate to option "2/5" and press "Copy File". The screen should shows to boxes with an arrow pointing from left to right.
NOTE: If the "Copy" button just beeps, see below to troubleshoot this problem.
On the LEFT side of the screen, press "USB:\" twice, or until the tree expands.
Recall which folder worked for the firmware update in step 4 and press that corresponding folder. (If you don't remember you can try them one at a time until you get the correct one.)
On the RIGHT side of the screen, press "HMI:\" twice, or until the tree expands.
Press "HMI-000".
From the bottom menu bar, press "COPY". A popup should appear asking for the "Copy Password".
NOTE: If a popup appears that says "Warning... Model of file is mismatch !!!", Press "OK" and select a different folder on the left (i.e. HMI-001 or HMI-002) and press "COPY" again.
Type in "0123" and press "Enter". A popup should appear that says "Processing".
After around 30 seconds to 1 minute, a popup should appear that says "Copy Success" (The number in the blue status bar is how many copies there are left.)
Press "Okay".
Press "Home"
IMPORTANT!!! Check the bottom left and bottom right corners of the home screen to verify that the numbers are the same. This indicates that the programming was successful. For example, if BGPXT2.6.2 software was used, the bottom left should read "2.62" indicating the PLC was programmed successfully, and the bottom right should read "2.6.2" indicating the HMI was programmed successfully.
NOTE: If either of these does not reflect programming, only that specific device needs to be reprogrammed using the steps above.
Remove the USB from the back of the HMI. A popup will appear that says "Device has been removed!"
NOTE: It may be helpful to tie a long string to the drive and let it hang outside the service window. It will help you remember to remove the drive before buttoning up the machine.
Press "OK".
Power cycle the machine to reboot the software.
CALIBRATE THE SCALES:
From the home screen, press the gear icon on the bottom. The maintenance screen should appear.
Press the scale icon on the top right. A screen should open that says "Tank Sensors". This screen shows you what the machine is reading for the current volume in T1 and T2 in QT/L.
Press the "T1" and "T2" buttons on the bottom center until they are both bright green.
Press the home icon.
Make sure there is at least 1 to 2 QT/L in each tank to get an accurate zero calibration.
From the home screen, push T1 and follow instructions to completely empty T1. It will take longer than usual, but you must wait for the process to shut itself off.
From the home screen, push T2 and follow instructions to completely empty T2. It will take longer than usual, but you must wait for the process to shut itself off.
From the home screen, press the gear icon.
From the maintenance screen, press the scale icon.
Ensure that the T1 and T2 buttons are both gray. If either is green, perform the empty function for that tank again.
The copy button just beeps when trying to update the software.
This process is shown in the video below.
Press the back button to go back a screen.
Arrow over to find the Formatting selection and select formatting.
Select HMI at the bottom of the screen.
It will ask if you want to format, select yes then it will ask for a Password 4143788
After it goes through the process it will come back up with the box that says do you want to format and at this point you turn the machine off and then turn it back on.
Now push the button on the back of the HMI and start with the system setting and go back to file manager and choose COPY and finish the software programing.
The HMI won't recognize the PLC on Com2.
