PVC cockpit 55F1

My Ultimate F1 style cockpit, puts you in the right F1 driving position! Designed from scratch, mimics accurately the F1 driving position and offers unexpectable comfort experience.

Some information about the materials, to help you make a cost estimation about this construction:

I use 2.5cm (1" inch) MDF with melamine overlay (different colors), but of course you can use any convenient for you wood planks, thick enough to hold the pressure.

You are going to need for this project (as for all my models) 50mm diameter High Pressure 10Atm (or even better 16Atm - but more expensive) PVC. In fact the thicker 16Atm type, is more important for the tubes (with no big impact in costs if only for the tubes) in contrary with the fittings that are much more expensive and don't offer significant benefits over the 10Atm parts. (In case you live in the USA, the equivalent would be the 2" inch Schedule 40 or 80 PVC

As you may already have seen, there are some "moving" PVC parts on this cockpit, in order to achieve  adjustability . Thus, I modify the T fittings. Here is a video I made to show how to modify these "Tees" in order to be able to "slide" on the tube, to make possible the various settings that can offer this design:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NRDbxeDTSw4  (I included English subtitles, just turn them on).

(If you live in the USA, there is also another solution, if the procedure described in the video, looks to hard to follow. You could buy the Tees needed to be modified from this place: FORMUFIT. These Tees are ideal for this job because they don't have a tube stop inside them and they allow the 2" inch tube to pass through).

I would, also, recommend to you to build this cockpit with the screws binding system. Here is a video of mine showing how to do this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mo9BJAmivtY

Using screws you transform your PVC parts in a "LEGO" like system and you can reconstruct any time you want in an other model! Plus the fact that you can allow to your self doing mistakes, during the building procedure, as you can correct them easily.
