FRIENDS OF THE EARTH (FOE). "Our climate justice campaign has forged the agenda on the human rights dimensions of climate change"

FRIENDS OF THE EARTH (FOE). Friends of the Earth (FOE) Australia works for climate justice.

Friends of the Earth (FOE) Australia in its own words: “We are the world's largest grassroots environmental network, uniting 76 national member groups and some 5,000 local activist groups on every continent. With over 2 million members and supporters around the world, we campaign on today's most urgent environmental and social issues. We challenge the current model of economic and corporate globalization, and promote solutions that will help to create environmentally sustainable and socially just societies” (see: http://foe.org.au/about ).

Friends of the Earth (FOE) Australia about climate justice (2013): “For many years our climate justice campaign has forged the agenda on the human rights dimensions of climate change, from supporting the rights of those at risk of climate-induced displacement to exposing the social impacts of carbon offsets in Southern countries. We are also building campaigns relating to Australia's greenhouse gas emissions and the impacts of the fossil fuel industries on communities. We participate in the Lock the Gate alliance against coal-seam gas, we are involved in campaigns against the expansion of the domestic and export coal industries, and we have started a pro-renewable energy campaign that highlights the benefits for communities in taking up renewable energy to reduce emissions” [1].
